What animal is it?

It is one of the largest land carnivores in the world: they eat meat, usually seals. It weighs between 350 and 650 kilos although females are 25% smaller. They have 42 teeth. They have small ears and short claws. They have a tiny tail.

They are furry. They have a thick winter coat because they have a layer of fat that protects it against cold air and water. Their white fur turns yellow when they get old. They have long feet to walk on ice or snow. They have a strong sense of smell. They are excellent swimmers.

They live in very cold places, generally the sea ice and waters, islands and coasts of the Arctic.
