Christmas Carols

Christmas time is time for singing Christmas carols. Below you've got the song Last Christmas by Wham sang by different groups of 2nd ESO. Listen to them and vote for the best singers.
Ahhhh! By the way, on 28th December it's Sants Innocents in Spain (April Fool's Day in Britain). So here comes your English teacher's joke. Can you guess what it is?

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Who sings the best?

Merry Christmas

Christmas New Year Wish

I made a Christmas wish for you,
For a holiday full of pleasure,
Friends and family all around,
And memories to treasure.
I wish for you a Christmas filled
With joyous holiday cheer;
I wish you a Merry Christmas,
And a very Happy New Year!

Who was it?

He is quite short and fat. He's a middle aged man. He's around 52 or 53 years old. He is bald, so he has very little blonde hair. He usually wears white trousers, a white shirt and a pair of black shoes. His eyes are huge and black and his mouth is very big. He's got tiny ears.
He works at Springfield's nuclear power plant as a safety inspector. He has many dreams: being a train driver, a baseball player, a country singer, etc. He usually forgets birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. but he loves his family. He is married and he is a devoted husband. His favourite book is "So, You've Decided to Steal Cable". When he isn't reading, he enjoys drinking beer at home or in a bar. He is a happy man and there's no doubt he loves Marge and his children.

Congratulations Christian! You guessed it correctly! Keep on working like that!

The Best Wonder in Manresa is....

Most people who participated in the poll have voted for the park L'Agulla. Thanks to all the people who spent a bit of their time to vote. You can find more information about this park by clicking here. I'm afraid it's only in Catalan.

Buy Nothing Day

The Buy Nothing Day is an informal day of protest against consumerism and over-consumption. It began in the early 1990s. This year, Buy Nothing Day falls on November 23rd in America and on 24th internationally. Campaigners say it isn't just about changing your habits just for one day, but about starting a new lifestyle based on less consumption and, therefore, less waste production. Are you going to participate?

Happy Halloween!

Hi everyone!

Halloween is here. We're going to have a special Halloween celebration at school. As you may know, Halloween is mainly celebrated in the Anglosaxon countries. We've got a typical feast called "La Castanyada". Traditionally, this is a day when people eat toasted chesnuts (castanyes in Catalan) and panellets in the loving memory of the dead. Panellets are a kind of small cake or biscuit coated with pine nuts, almonds, coconut or dried fruit. Eating baked sweet potatoes is also quite common these days. On the 1st November, people in Catalonia go to the cemetery to bring flowers to their relatives' tombs. What do you do in Halloween?

Do you know where these countries are? Let's check your knowledge of the European countries. Go to the following website . Then click on Europe Level 1 and try to do the quiz. Afterwards, you can try with Level 3.

Attention: you will need to put your earphones on.

If you want more practice on this topic, click here and choose Europe Map Game. You'll have lots of fun while learning.

Here's a surprise for the French and Danish students. Click on Frappr Map and see what it is. Then write a comment and tell me what it is. Please write your name at the end of the comment.

First Message

Hello kids!

This is our blog for this school year. It's a student-student blog where you will communicate with students from other countries. The teachers will be writing messages for you and you can answer them in class, at the library or at home.

You should practice the English you learn in class in your messages. I hope you enjoy working with this blog. We should all make this blog as colourful and easygoing as possible. Remember we are going to share opinions with other students. Hugs from your English teacher.
